He also wrote a book entitled "Myth, Lies & Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel -- Why Everything You Know is Wrong" -- an excellent read by the way. The man does do his research on all sides of issues.

CNN's interview with my candidate after the debate last night:

I'm not a fan of McBama. I watched the debates, and sorry -- not impressed by either one. Both will raise taxes. Both will increase the size of government. Both will do absolutely nothing to reduce the national deficit and will do nothing to move this country ahead. But that's just my opinion.

After this week, I'll be throwing my support behind the Libertarian candidate Bob Barr. Went to his website and agree with about 80% of what he has to say. Up until this bailout bill fiasco, I did like both McCain and Obama. I like some of Obama's social/domestic stands. I favor McCain when it comes to foreign/military issues -- but I'm a former military member, now a military spouse. But seeing as how they BOTH voted for it, I'm through with both of them. Yes, something had to be done but $800 Billion dollars plus -- seriously? AND the bill is stacked with pork --> go [h e r e] to see the breakdown of what was in the bill. Oh, and by the way, one senator (can't remember who since I was just listening to the commentary) said this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of funding, that they'll be back in January to ask the next president for MORE money. Oh, yay.

Any way, there's my political entry for Election'08. First and probably last. Bob Barr 2008.

Note to self: Never get this far behind in your graduate coursework EVER again. Nothing like getting down to the wire and having approximately ten assessments to write and have turned in for submission in less than 48 hours...I just have to have a submission of each in by 11:59PM on the 15th, doesn't say it has to be the final revision...just something submitted that's actually partially coherent in pedagogical knowledge. Than I have the next week to correctly revised them for credit. Luckily the majority are about classroom management techniques and classroom organization, I can utilized my prior teaching experience and wing it. It's the complex cultural and diversity assessment that's gonna be the absolute bitch to do and one of the other assessments depends on reflection of what I learned from that about the cultural make-up of South Carolina. :(

This is really silly but it made me smile. My comment (my username is blueraingirl2005 on AIM) was used in the latest Wub Tub Blog Daily Dish entry over at WUBS NET about the latest General Hospital "publicity stunt." For any GH (and Night Shift) fans who are staying spoiler free, I'll lj-cut the info...

The big name to appear in August is Genie Francis. Yup, Laura Spencer is coming back. Am I happy? Sure, I would be if the show had different writers who knew what CHARACTER development actually was. Like I commented at Wubs, I really hope I'm wrong about Genie's return and she is more than a measly plot point for widdle Loo-Loo. But considering what is stated for story purposes, I'm not getting my hopes up. Sadly I'm looking forward more to the return of Robert Scorpio and Jagger Cates on GH spin-off, Night Shift 2 -- it's going to have different writers and the stories will actually be set in the HOSPITAL. Go figure it takes a spin-off series to do hospital-related stories on a soap named General HOSPITAL.

Now back to my graduate coursework I'm supposed to be doing -- reading up on Educational Psychology (right now concentrating on Cognitive Theories of Development). Actually I do enjoy this part a lot better than the last module on the History of the U.S. Education System. *YAWN* But I've always done well in Psychology/Behavioral Science type classes. If I hadn't majored in Math for my undergraduate degree, Psychology would definitely been the next choice. :)

Lost S4/"The Constant" Comments....

OMG, that was THE best Lost episode since...well, since the last Desmond-centered one honestly. All this season's episodes have been pretty good and have left you saying 'WTF' several times. But this one...sheesh, this one was just awesome.

1. DESMOND! Lots of wibbley-wobbly timey-whimey stuff for Desmond again. Henry Ian Cusick does not get enough screen time IMO but when he does - WOW, he gives it his all. I'm guessing Desmond's little out-of-consciousness experiences, or blackouts, lead to his military discharge. Also when the hatch exploded many thought Desmond himself 'jumped' into the past, now we know he never physically left the island - just his consciousness did.

2. Faraday! He rocked in this episode as well. I really don't think he's one of the 'bad' guys, just someone drawn to the island - maybe even by the island itself. Then again it may just be the geek/mathematician in me that loves this character. Loved the ending with Desmond being HIS constant. Does this mean he was suffering some type of 'sickness'/side effect since landing on the island as well? I'm going to say he's experienced some type of time 'blackout' in the past too - which led to him being fired from Oxford possibly. Zoning out/collapsing in the middle of lectures would do it. He did say to Desmond that the experiment he was conducting with Eloise was 'frowned upon' by the university. Am looking forward to finding more out about him (he can have Jack's screen time).

3. Lack of JACK!! Yes, I hate Jack.

4. PHYSICS! MATH! Always like Lost when it goes to the geeky side. :)

5. Yay, to the Black Rock reference: Tobias Hanso (relative? of Alvar Hanso, founder of the Hanso Foundation/Dharma Initiative) had a diary from one of the crew on the ship. The diary had washed up on the shore's of Madagascar. It was sold - no surprise - to Charles Widmore, who I'm betting is behind this little venture to find the island.

6. And the absolute best moment - DESMOND & PENELOPE!!!!!!! How incredulously freakin' fantastic was that scene?! My daughter and I were both in tears as Desmond and Penny pledged never to give up trying to find each other and would always love one another. I watched that scene like four times already - and will have fanart soon.

Torchwood S2/Ep 6 : Reset

Watched this one while Ep. 5 ("Adam") is downloading. And...

**** MASSIVE PLOT SPOILERS BEHIND CUT ****
For Episode 6 / RESET

Oh. My. God. *sniff* Owen's Dead!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I hated you most of last season but this season - baby, you've been fantastic. I've read spoilers but, whoa, never saw that coming. wow.

However, I do know Owen is in the rest of the season so something's gonna happen to bring him back. Anything's possible with Torchwood and their alien technology gadgets. Looking forward to seeing how it's done. Oh, this season has been awesome, hasn't it?

And the rest of the episode shaped up like this for me:
- Loved Martha's interaction with the gang; no jealousy, no fighting and everyone still got screen time. The Martha/Owen was marvelous. If she was staying, I would have loved to have seen the two of them hook up but I do like the possibility of Tosh/Owen.
- Martha and Ianto! Oo, that scene where Ianto affirms he and Jack 'dabble.' Hee hee hee. So Jack is 'innovative' in the bedroom, eh? Oops, mind went to a very kinky place. Mmm, nekkid Jack and Ianto. Very good mental image. =)
- Martha and Jack! Enjoyed the continuity with the Doctor Who storyline. Fabulous chemistry between the two.
- The only thing I didn't like was the confirmation near the end that Martha's boyfriend IS Tom Milligan. Liked Tom as a one-off character and had heard rumors he might be the one for Martha but...oh well hopefully he doesn't turn up and is just spoken about.

Well, the previous episode is done downloading...will comment on that one tomorrow =)

It's silly; it was fun and everyone on my f-list is doing it =)

You are breakfasty, like a pile of pancakes on a Sunday morning that have just the right amount of syrup, so every bite is sweet perfection and not a soppy mess. You are a glass of orange juice that's cool, refreshing, and not overly pulpy. You are the time of day that's just right for turning the pages of a newspaper, flipping through channels, or clicking around online to get a sense of how the world changed during the night. You don't want to stumble sleepily through life, so you make a real effort to wake your brain up and get it thinking. You feel inspired to accomplish things (whether it's checking something off your to-do list or changing the world), but there's plenty of time for making things happen later in the day. First, pancakes.

Torchwood S2: Random Thoughts

I gotta say so far Torchwood Season 2 is looking spectacular, especially Ianto!

Episode 1: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

- Gotta love the title.
- James Marsters is a freakin' god. Mmm, love his british accent. He's so much sexier with it.
- Cap'n Jack/John kissage - total *SQUEE*
- Like Gwen but not with Jack and I'm glad she's staying with Rhys.
- The opening sequence was hilarious *Excuse me have you seen a blowfish drivin' a sports car?*
- Can't say enough about Cap'n John. Liked the little hints he dropped about Jack's past (time agency, con man, etc).
- I've been wanting some back story on Jack since he was introduced in Doctor Who several years ago. Definitely looks like we're going to get some this season! YAY!

Episode 2: Sleeper

- Not quite as outstanding as KKBB, but still a good episode - lots of team interaction.
- IANTO!!!! He was hilarious, especially about the phones ("Mobiles. Landlines. Tin cans with bits of string. Everything. Absolutely everything. No phones. Phones all broken. 'Hello, anyone there?' No, 'cuz the phones aren't working.") Another good line was - "They know more about this place than I do. NOBODY knows more than I do."
- Hated Owen last season, but I actually like him this season so far.
- Again, loving the team dynamic better this year for some reason.

Look forward to next week's episode as well, looks like it's going to be Tosh-centric - YAY!! One of my fave episodes of season 1 is "Greeks Bearing Gifts" (Tosh-centric as well). :)

What a great ((American)) football play off weekend!!

Lemme see, Green Bay Packers (my home team) won - and what a great day for a game, it was. Loved seeing the snow. Packer games are always best when it is. And Ryan Grant/Brett Favre - I *heart* you both. Look forward to next week, because...

THEY LOST!!! DALLAS LOST! YES! I'm soooooo happy. I was pulling a Tom Cruise on our couch I was so thrilled. No other team in the NFL do I hate as much as them. Normally I don't watch Dallas games all the way through but I did this one. And it was so worth it. Just seeing Jerry Jones' face on the sidelines as the Eli Manning took the kneel-down at the end. PRICELESS! Thus Green Bay does NOT have to go to Dallas and the odds of them winning next week increase greatly. I'm so praying for Green Bay to be in the Super Bowl.

So, now I've GOT to go to the Packers homepage and search for pics to do some artwork with. I have a few already but I need an image of Favre throwing the snow ball. Will post on HellaGood and here when done.

General Hospital (I still watch but as a fan of a few characters only and not on a daily basis any more), 24 (season six SUCKED!! I lost interest after the third episode. But I was kinda looking forward to season 7 because of a certain spoiler that was floating around but since the show's not coming back until 2009 or whatever I'm over it), How I Met Your Mother (without Neil Patrick Harris this show would have tanked long ago. Alyson Hannigan's good but the show just doesn't hold my attention any more), CSI: Miami (not as interesting to me as the other CSI shows). Grey's Anatomy - conflicted with CSI on Thursday nights and I guess I'm just burned out on serialized soapy-time hospital shows. :( Jericho. The writing in later episodes (after a couple month hiatus by CBS) just didn't hold up to the beginning ones. Since I watch Lost, having another type of show where I had to follow and keep track of little details is just too much. Reality Shows (i.e. Survivor, Biggest Loser, etc). Same ol' crap, got tired of it.

3: What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn't in 2007? Why?
Cane (Bad time slot for me, too late in the evening - hope to watch the reruns though), Dirty Sexy Money (again, bad time slot), Reaper (same reason as before), Jekyll (BBC show and just haven't had time to download it) *Side note: I REALLY need Tivo*

4: What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2008?
New Amsterdam (maybe) - but with starting grad school and the writer's strike I'm probably just going to stick with shows I've been watching already.

5: What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2008 unless things significantly improve?
Rescue Me. And it hurts to say that because this show soooo rocks. But the last season just felt sort of...flat. And Denis Leary's character (Tommy Gavin) got a bit boring once he gave up being a fucked up alcoholic fire fighter who had conversations with dead people. However, I hope the lower ratings motive Leary and his writing team to get it together for next season.

6: What fandoms do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
House, most definitely. I dreaded this season (with the 3 ducklings - Chase, Foreman, Cameron - roles changing) but the new diagnostic team is good and the writing is still strong. Oh, what the heck, I just love looking at Hugh Laurie and the occasional glimpse of Robert Sean Leonard *g*. CSI (the original). Again this comes down to the actors and the scripts - I love how they don't just focus on the main CSIs but the lab techs and supporting players. nip/tuck - Ryan Murphy could do a show with no script, just Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon posing for the camera for an hour and I'd watch, this show sooooo owns me. Lost - I just want to see how the whole bloody thing ends. Team Locke all the way! Doctor Who - the show just is one where you expect over-the-top, campy writing from time to time.

7: What show impressed you most in 2007?
Pushing Daisies and Chuck. Pushing Daisies - the narration and Tim Burton-esque visual style are the most impressive for me. Chuck - the whole premise is absolutely ridiculous (a rogue CIA agent sending his geeky former classmate a whole database of images which gets imprinted into geeky friend's brain) but the cast is great and I love Adam Baldwin so much more :)

8: What show impressed you least in 2007?
Burn Notice. Good show but I'm just tried of the whole ex-spy thriller thing. Might have something to do with a previous job I had but that's a whole separate (friend's only) post for another day. Another show I wasn't impressed with was Big Shots - nice cast but I just couldn't get into it.
